I'm a grown man, and I don't have any issues with fear in my daily life (it's not a symptom of any larger complex), but I've always been uncomfortable with disturbing imagery and jump scares.

This is going to sound silly, but I only started enjoying them recently by treating them as fear control / calming exercises. Do you just force yourself to go through them? You just skip them and forget they exist? Do you play them in a specific way to make them less frightening? (E.g. I know I'm missing the opportunity to enjoy really nice titles because of this, so I'd like to know how easily-scared GAFers deal with horror games. My last two horror experiences were Outlast and Until Dawn, and I have to stop playing them after 2-3 hours: Outlast was too much for my heart, and I was enjoying Until Dawn a lot, but the constant jumpscares ruined it for me, I fucking hate them I've always been an easily scared person: I always have a really bad time when it comes to watch horror movies for instance (to the point I've only watched a couple of them in my entire life), and lately this have been translated into videogames.Īs I have mentioned, I have managed to beat all the previous entries in the RE series, but I don't consider them "proper" horror titles as they have a strong focus on the action side as well.
